wimbledon centre court - a grandslam for graefe

Understandably, much has been made of the pioneering new roof installed in Wimbledon’s Centre Court, which literally topped the extensive refurbishment programme that spanned over 3 years. The refurbishment and extension of the stadium, which is one of the World’s most iconic sporting structures, added a further 1,200 seats to allow up to 15,000 spectators.

The refurbishment carefully maintained Wimbledon’s 1920s splendour by blending the old with the new – this can mostly be seen in the more high-end, back-of-house, members’ areas where real wood veneer experts, Graefe, were tasked with manufacturing and supplying new panels and doors. Graefe, who specialise in acoustic and fire rated products, supplied the doors for the whole project, carefully creating a perfect match with the existing décor.

Producing premium real wood veneer products since 1837, Graefe’s skilled craftsmanship and use of the highest quality raw materials has earned them a reputation for unrivalled quality.
