lunchtime workshop
12th May 2011
With veneering as Graefe's core business for over 170 years, a vast amount of technical knowledge and craftsmanship has been passed down through the generations. This has evolved to produce high quality fire rated, acoustic and standard doors and frames, panels and bespoke joinery for the 21st century market.
Our lunchtime workshop has been developed to demonstrate how veneer is cut and the variation of visual impacts that can be created with different types of veneers. Sequential matching is also explained so continuity of pattern and colour can be ensured throughout a project with spectacular end results.
The key objectives of the workshop are to further your understanding of:
- Different veneer cuts, aesthetics, characteristics and typical uses
- Sequential veneer matching and log selection
- Methods of veneer matching; including book matched, slip matched as well as more unusual methods such as quarter matched and consistent random
- Fire rating regulations of internal doors and wall panels
- Acoustic values of internal door sets and wall panels
- Sustainability and FSC sourcing
We are happy to provide samples that will show you the endless possibilities of what veneer can bring to a project. We are also happy to talk though any specific projects that you currently have where veneers are required.
The workshop will last approximately an hour, and can be flexible to accommodate lunch periods.
